After years of R&D, BoardeX is the first fibreglass mat coated exterior board to be offered to the European markets since its introduction in America.
BoardeX is an exterior façade board used in the construction of exterior walls with a moisture resistant core and special orange-coloured glass fibre mat.
BoardeX is an excellent board with a high level of resistance, thanks to the fibre glass mat coating that is well integrated into the board’s core.
BoardeX has many superior features. For example, its improved special core prevents mold formation. This was determined by laboratory tests. When BoardeX is tested according to ASTM D 3273 by an independent laboratory, it scores the highest mark of 10, meaning mold cannot form under the laboratory conditions.
As A1 non combustible material, BoardeX protects your living spaces from fire. If fire occurs, the special core compound retards the spread of fire by releasing the crystalline water in its structure. During a fire, walls built with the BoardeX exterior system perform better than cement-based exterior boards.
With a its low water absorption feature, it only absorbs less than 3% by weight after 2 hours from the surface, and less than 8% after 24 hours; it has the lowest water absorption of any exterior board. (Please note: BoardeX is not a waterproofing material.)

With BoardeX exterior board you can find six different types of wall system solutions. With these six different exterior wall systems you can design low U-value exterior walls. Approximately 40% of the heat losses in buildings are from exterior walls, emphasising the importance of exterior walls with lower U-values for energy efficiency in the design of the buildings, a factor which helps a lot in the hot days of summer in Malta.
Façade construction with BoardeX allows the use of low density insulation materials. At the same time, it enables the use of insulating materials up to 25 cm thick for external insulation.
